THE CAUSE OF DISEASE: a different perspective

The word “Dis-ease,” is what the word says: the body is no longer at ease. When a person becomes sick, his organs have become weary and overloaded with toxins. Disease is actually an effort of nature to cleanse the body of the toxins. The human system is subject to wear and tear; but, when disease strikes, the regular functions are temporarily set aside and the body goes to work to regenerate itself. Instead of using energy for food digestion and muscular activity, it switches over to cleansing, repair and rebuilding.

Two most popular theories as to the cause of disease are the germ and gene theories. They both put the blame on any other source exempting an individual’s choices and conduct. It is no doubt that in order to find a solution to any problem, it is necessary to understand its cause. “…the cause which I knew not I searched out” Job 29:16

The germ theory which was “fathered” by Louis Pasteur, is the doctrine zealously preached by mainstream medicine, thus being a primary precept of today’s medical practice. The theory states that many diseases are caused by microorganisms such as bacteria, virus, protozoa, or fungi. The diseases are caused by the growth and replication of microorganisms.

One Antoine Bechamp, held a contrary perspective as to the cause of disease thus proving through original research that most diseases are the result of diseased tissue and that bacteria and viruses are largely after-effects instead of causes of disease. He scientifically showed that germs are the chemical by-products and constituents of pleomorphic microorganisms enacting upon the unbalanced, malfunctioning cell metabolism and dead tissue that actually produces disease. Simply put, germs are the result of unhealthful conditions.

The big pharma industry has thrived off Pasteur's theory by investing in the making of drugs to fight germs. The germ theory addresses the disease issue by trying to deal with the symptoms of an illness or rather to eliminate the symptoms thus bringing relief to the body. The problem with this is that disease is an effort of nature to free the system from conditions that result from a violation of the laws of health. Rather than cleanse the system of impurities, chemicals known to be poisonous are placed into the body. The body is aroused, stops the natural healing process and begins to fight that poison! The sickness may apparently end, but true healing did not take place. Additional poisons are now in the body, which will only weaken it for years to come.

In case of sickness, the cause should be ascertained. Unhealthful conditions should be changed, wrong habits corrected. Then nature is to be assisted in her effort to expel impurities and to re-establish right conditions in the system. To understand this better, let us consider the inside workings of the human cell. At the very center of the cell is the DNA. We are constantly being remade according to the DNA. For instance, the cells that line our gastrointestinal tract are remade every 3-5 days. Now if this is the case, how come someone with irritable bowel syndrome doesn't heal? this beautiful illustration by Barbara O'Neil answers our question.

consider how a new cell is made:

First, cells have to make an exact copy of their DNA. DNA is like the instruction manual for a cell. It encodes genes for characteristics and dictates things like eye color and blood type.

A photocopy of the DNA is made by the RNA and it comes to the ribosomes where new cells are made according to the pattern.

The first "brick" is laid down and the next is attached; (Amino acids glued with minerals) until the components of the cell are all made up.

In the case of making an irritable bowel syndrome cell, the same process is followed. The first "brick" is laid down but when the 2nd is to be added, a piece of the DNA information happens to be missing. In addition, a person might be deficient in minerals hence gluing of the amino acids together becomes a challenge therefore an irritable bowel syndrome cell is made.

People are not healing because of damage to the DNA. Below are some of the causes:

Mineral deficiency: Minerals are important since they glue together components that make up the DNA. Agricultural practices contribute to a lack of sufficient nutrients/minerals in plants grown and at long last the food consumed. Farmers not feeding the soil with the necessary nutrients end up sowing on soils that are deficient. The use of super phosphates binds up the minerals in the soil inhibiting the microbes in the soil from being able to get the minerals out of the soil to feed the plant. Picking the produce too early and storing too long also affects the nutrient content in the plants.

Stimulants: These deplete minerals in the body. Caffeine is toxic to the body hence the body quickly covers it with magnesium and calcium leading to a leeching of the same. Alcohol depletes B vitamins that protect the brain. It also damages the DNA causing fetal alcohol syndrome in newborns.

Genetically modified food: This type of food tampers with our DNA. It leads to cancer which is basically a mutation of the genes.

Chemicals: They are cytotoxic; toxic to the very DNA inside the cell. The biggest chemical industry is the pharmaceutical industry. The thalidomide tragedy is a reminder of the effects of drugs on the DNA.

Electromagnetic field excess: an excessive exposure to the radiation is harmful to the normal functioning of our bodies. Charging our devices close to our beds at night or sitting close to the Wi-Fi routers can be detrimental to our health.

Though we may each have a slightly defective DNA in a few areas, we need to keep in mind that genetics load the gun but lifestyle pulls the trigger. Our lifestyle habits can be our worse enemies.
